On June 9, 2016 the 2021 World Alpine Skiing Championships were officially assigned to Cortina d’Ampezzo. From Cancún, where it was gathered, the FIS Council unanimously approved the decision.
The assignment constitutes a victory obtained thanks to team work carried out by the Municipality of
Cortina d’Ampezzo, CONI, FISI, Foundation 2021 with the support of the National Government , the Veneto Region and the Belluno Province, all committed to promoting Italian excellence in the world, its credibility and its international role.
Already in the past few months the partners of this organization have started working on projects that will involve the whole territory. In 2021 the world championship must be technological and eco-sustainable so as to enhance the mountains and Made in Italy products.
